Fall Is Mushroom Season

October 19, 2023

I’m a little late to the show but here nonetheless.  I had these four photographs ready to post over a week ago but just got to actually posting them today.  I had been out a couple of weeks ago shooting mushrooms in a location I had ridden past on my bike early one morning.  There had been a pretty good bloom (if that’s the right word) of fungi after a couple rainy weeks.  These were all in a fairly mature pine woods and there were A LOT of mushrooms, although ,most had turned that corner toward fading away.  Here are four from that all in the woods.  I do not know what variety they are so if you know please volunteer an identity.  I had first seen these in mid-morning light but thought they would photograph better in late afternoon, low angle, warm glow before sunset.
