Storm Clouds

There is something about edges that make a photographic subject interesting.  In this photograph there are many edges and I’m not talking about the top, bottom and sides of the image.  What, to me, makes this an interesting moment and composition are the several visual edges I see here.  The sky consists of the edge of low cloud cover reaching nearly to the horizon but leaving a small clear edge for  the rising sun to peak out over the ocean and light up the bottom of the clouds for a few minutes.  The horizon edge with a ship lined up perfectly on it, the separating edge between dune and ocean, the edge between  dune and fence, and the multiple edges of the sand fence slats with sunrise color bleeding through all make the composition interesting.  And of course  there is the edge of the continent or the edge of the sea, depending on one’s perspective, is a major edge.  There are many components that come together to make this a ver harmonious photograph.
