I have said this before and I will say it again. I love dramatic skies for photography. Whenever I hear that a thunderstorm is approaching I think of the possibilities for a good photograph. Where is the storm coming in from, what could be a good foreground setting, how much time do I have to get to a place I have in mind for the best setting, and how long do I have to be out in the open safely??? All good questions; factors that dictate the possibility/probability of getting a good shot. For this photo I saw a storm approaching on radar, saw its intensity, saw its direction of movement and got myself to a spot with a good foreground. That day it paid off. My other reality, which is more often the case, is seeing something developing on radar, getting to where I think will be a great spot, and in time for the show, only to have the storm fizzle out. I have a very good track record for just that kind of experience this summer. The photo shown here was taken in July 2024.
