Sorry, everybody — I have to go w/the top one. Though the bottom one is crisper and more clear, more attention is drawn to the fence as opposed to the whole scene. The top one appears more natural — the entire scene becomes the subject — a true depiction of a cold, gray wintery day.
I’d go with the one with more snap, as long as the highlights didn’t get blown out in the process. Might be interesting to try some infrared shots of this scene in the future.
