Pollinators For Peaches

April 27, 2026

An absolute favorite part of summer here on the Delmarva Peninsula is fresh, tree ripened peaches.  With growers like Bennett Orchards (Frankford DE) being a major peach supplier in southern DE we have plentiful summer fruit to enjoy in many ways.  Farmer Henry Bennett asked Pam and me to photograph his orchards about three weeks ago (4/4) when blossoms were popping and frosty nights were being watched and feared as frost bitten blossoms is a disaster to the crop.  In oder for fruit to form from the blossoms the hundreds of thousands pf blossoms in the orchard are literally riddled with pollinators.  The next time you bite into a fresh juicy peach, dip into peach cobbler or ice cream, bite into peach pie or sip a peach flavored drink on a hot summer afternoon thank the bees.  And thank farmer Henry and the Bennett family for decades of orchard maintenance and yield.
