St John USVI

August 23, 2023

Last November Pam and I met up with friends in St John, US Virgin Islands.  We flew nonstop from Philadelphia to St Thomas, took a van taxi from the airport there to the ferry dock on the other end of the island.  It was pouring rain in the van ride and on the ferry ride from St Thomas to St John.  Our friends picked us up in a jeep and off we went in the rain.  It turned out that the rain we experienced that first day in the Virgin Islands was weather that developed into Hurricane Nicole. Nicole blossomed into a fairly strong hurricane over the next few days and hit Florida with deadly force.  Where we were the tropical weather returned behind the storm and eye catching sunrises were a daily occurrence.  Our rental house overlooked Coral Bay and the rising sun in this photo is to the right of Peter Island in the distance.  The land mass to the left across the bay is named, appropriately enough, East End on St John.
