Google AI informs me that the “bluebird of happiness” represents happiness, love, harmony, and the beauty of life. I grew up in New England and attended Hampshire College, a school well known for its nontraditional approach to education, starting there in 1971. I turned 10 in 1960 and 20 in 1970, living the ‘tumultuous’ ‘hippy’ ‘liberal’ New England experience, and I held happiness, love, harmony and beauty close to my chest as my mantra as I went from my teens to well into my 20s. I harken back to the spirit of the blue bird of happiness in tumultuous times. More generally Thoreau’s quotes; “In Wildness is the preservation of the World”, and “We need the tonic of wildness…We can never have enough of nature” speak to how nature and photographing nature bring me great inner peace. So, here’s to the bluebird of happiness and I hope you too find happiness in the image.
