At long last, we had a sunny sunrise today. I returned to my favorite marsh pond to check on who was there and a nice collection of egrets and herons were loafing in the morning sun. Great Egrets were casually fishing while Great Blue Herons looked on passively. Just another day at their office.

Wow! What a neck on that first one!! Great pics.
I am a landscape and wildlife painter on Jekyll Island, GA, and admit to using professional photographers’ work to help my students and me do drawings and paintings of wildlife. Tony Pratt’s photos of herons and egrets here are spectacular. Several are very “painterly.” The colors and composition of these portraits raise the level of the works to art. Thanks for the great photos, Tony!
