As the holidays fade in the rear view mirror, many of us face Jan-Feb-Mar with a combination of dread, impatience and boredom. The stinginess of the sun here north of the equator as it vacations in the southern hemisphere, combined with an abundance of cloudy days, can bring feelings of lethargy along with low motivation to get out and photograph subjects in nature for this photographer. That said, I do get motivated by the winter visitors to the DE coast and resident wildlife, especially in snow. Landscapes with ice and snow are also favorite subjects but wildlife in snow, especially when it is snowing, are very appealing to me. Take this doe in a snowstorm for example. This would have been a nice portrait in the woods without the snow but the falling and fallen snow framing that face my like of the photo is greater. Happy New Year!
