This past Saturday Pam and I worked on our property in Cashville VA, near Onancock. We were mowing and trimming a bit. We had one butterfly bush with two flowers still on it and, it being a sunny warm day, there were a few American Lady butterflies taking advantage of the last blooms of the year. I didn’t have my usual macro photography rig, my Nikon Z9 with a 105 mm macro lens, but I had my Z7 with a 24-70 lens with me. I shot this series with the lens zoomed out to 70 mm. The Nikon Z cameras are amazing. The subject butterfly in the capture is about 10-20% of the full frame. I shot these hand held and moving quickly with the flighty butterflies. I ended up with many keeper shots with unbelievable clarity.
