I love ice on DE Bay for photography variety so with the very cold weather we had last week I started to hope for ice up sometime this winter. Then weather conditions changed and we have had a couple of days of well above average temperatures and any thoughts I had of ice forming in DE Bay evaporated. Rain today is ahead of colder air moving back in with temps dropping a little now. The forecast shows much colder conditions by next weekend with one local meteorologist hinting at the possibility of snow. Today DE Bay water near Cape Henlopen is 40 F-41 F degrees. Sea water freezes at around 28.4 F or a little water when mixed with fresh water. NOAA’s 30 day forecast for the Mid-Atlantic area is for slightly colder than average so maybe we will see some ice build up later in the month. If so, views like this could occur.
