Meteorologists, last night, predicted cloud cover this morning at sunrise along with southwest wind which brings in warmer, moister air from the south. These are good ingredients for a colorful sunrise so I dragged myself out of bed at 4:00 a.m., got in my car and headed south. I usually pre-envision photographs I want to take, in this case thinking about sunrise possibilities and interesting composition to find. Ocean City (MD) inlet is a favorite spot with many objects to put in the foreground or on edges of the scene to add interest to the overall setting. Using two different ferris wheels at the inlet to look through into the sky, the sunrise colors are vastly different looking northeast into the rising sun and in the opposite direction, to the southwest away for direct sun. Both make interesting compositions but with very different look and mood. These two photos were taken within a minute or two of each other.
