In 2019 Pam and I toured the Oregon coast primarily sticking to Rte 101, the Oregon Coast Highway, and stopping at many locations to hike down to beaches and ocean vistas. We parked in highway pull-off parking lots and hiked down to the coast, usually not knowing what we would find at the shore. At the location shown here we lucked upon a scene that is classic Oregon vibe. A great surf spot with a collection of dedicated surfers seemingly all friends and ‘usuals’ at this location. At many spots we found similar scenes and also tents and camp fires burning, set up for multi-day stays. I love this photo as, to me, it captures the surf camp vibe that is uniques to Oregon surfing. It’s definitely a cultural thing.
